Public Works Equipment Operator – Full Time
The City of North Muskegon is seeking a Public Works Equipment Operator for a full time position (plus overtime). Under supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, this individual performs a variety of maintenance and repair jobs throughout the City of North Muskegon including but not limited to:
- Removes damaged sidewalks and curbs; cuts roots; forms, pours and finishes concrete
- Prepares streets and parking lots for asphalt patching, performs necessary shoveling, raking and rolling
- Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs including fueling, lubricating and cleaning machinery to ensure proper operation
- Removal of snow from streets, sidewalks and parking lots
- Installation and repair of water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer utilities, including pumps and other appurtenances
- The position is required to be placed in the on-call rotation upon supervisor approval
The successful candidate will also be required to assist in other areas of the Department of Public Works as needed.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required for this position. Ability to withstand heavy physical labor and stand for long periods of time is required. Ability to obtain and maintain a State of Michigan Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B with tanker endorsement within six months of employment is also required. A Michigan S-3 Water License with experience in both municipal water and sanitary sewer utilities is preferred.
