The City of North Muskegon, through the Department of Public Works, provides free yard waste cleanup service. From April - November, the City will pick up yard waste that has been properly bagged or positioned. Read the requirements below.
TREE TRIMMING AND BRUSH
Tree trimmings, branches, and brush will be picked up from the TERRACE AREA on Fridays officially beginning April 2 (weather permitting). Stumps, unliftable yard waste, and items exceeding size requirements WILL NOT be picked up. Please place brush on the terrace area (NOT ON STREET) no earlier than 24 hours before pick-up. This service continues through November 12th, weather permitting. Exact dates will be provided in the fall/winter newsletter. Go to Our City/Live to read the entire version of the newsletter.
Contractors who have been hired to trim and/or remove trees and bushes are responsible for disposal of the materials.
BRUSH CANNOT EXCEED 4 FEET IN LENGTH OR 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER AND MUST BE IN LIFTABLE BUNDLES.
BAGGED LEAVES AND GRASS CLIPPINGS
Paper bags and properly labeled reusable 30 gallon containers with leaves and grass clippings will be picked up on MONDAYS beginning March 22, 2010. Containers (30 gallon or smaller) must be labeled. You can label them with spray paint or with stickers available at City Hall. Please place all containers on the TERRACE AREA (not on the street) no earlier than Sunday evening for pick-up the following day. Residents are encouraged to use mulching mowers to reduce the volume of yard waste material.
LOOSE LEAVES
April 12 - May 7, 2010, loose leaves and grass clippings may be raked to the terrace. Leaves raked in to the alleys will not be picked up. After May 7th, loose leaves and clippings must be placed in properly labeled containers or paper bags and placed on the terrace.
Branches and sticks must be visible and be separated from the loose leaf piles as they are one of the major causes of equipment breakdowns and delays.
